After reading the reviews here, I was anxious to try Carmen's. It's true, they know how to treat customers so they feel pampered. My shampoo included a head and neck massage. However, on the day I was there, I felt rushed through the process from beginning to end. I wanted the same style I had when I walked in, but wanted face-framing layers and a little off the length. I had hoped Carmen would take a look at my hair before it was wet from shampooing, so she could analyze my style and get an idea of how curly it is, etc. She didn't see it until after the shampoo. I explained what I wanted and she rapidly started cutting. Before I knew it, my hair was cut in the same layered style I see on many women, not in the way I had described. I think it was the fastest hair cut I've ever had. After that, another person styled it. That was quickly accomplished, too. When I went to pay, I was shown an expensive flat iron and asked if I wanted to buy it. After I got home, I saw that I now had choppy layers which will take a year or more to grow out. It's been quite a challenge to style, as it works against the curly hair type I have. Certainly Carmen is outgoing and bubbly, very entertaining. But for $50, I expected someone to take a moment to determine my needs and a haircut which would work well for me. I guess if you want Carmen to "do her thing", you'd be fine.

This is the first time I have ever taken the time to write a review on anything but my total experience at Carmen's was so perfect I had to do this. Wow. Carmen is a true pro. My cut and color are perfect and beyond perfect. I live in Las Cruces and couldn't find a hair salon who can do cut and color to my satisfaction. I used to live in Manhattan and am used to a truly professional, top notch cut and color. The drive to El Paso was so worth it indeed. Carmen knows hair, period. She takes the time to listen to what you want and gives her honest feedback before getting started. The results are to perfection. My cut and color are beyond what I thought I could even get outside of Manhattan. She knows her stuff, believe me. And, her assistant and staff are personable, friendly and make you feel very pampered as well. We are lucky to have such a true pro here. I promise you, once you see Carmen, you will never go elsewhere. She is a state-of-the-art hair dresser and is also a nice person, friendly and very personable as well. Go see Carmen. You will never see anyone else. I promise you.

From the moment i walked in i got rockstar treatment. I was greeted imidiatly and offered a diet coke, water, or even a tecate.....who can turn down a tecate? The decor is one of a kind, and because every stylist has their own private room, you get one on one Carmen time the entire appointment! Carmen made me feel as if I had known her all my life by the time we were done. My highlights, color, and cut have been the talk of the town ever since the first day I got them done. Im so glad I trusted her expert opinion in let her do what she thought would look best. So all in all, please visit her with an open mind and trust that you will walk out feeling good about yourself from the inside out!!!

Pros: THE WHOLE EXPERIANCE WAS PROFESSIONAL

Cons: THE CONS ARE ALL THE OTHER PLACES I HAVE GONE TOO IN TOWN

I discovered Carmen through a coworker and I will go no place other now! I wanted a place who would care about my haircut and my hair and not so much glam and glitter! When you walk in your greeted like a old friend no matter who you are. You are sat down and asked whatcha want to drink and then off to shampoo. No matter who you stylist is your haircut is discussed and suggestions are made if needed. The stylist takes thier time attending to your wants and needs, they are always up on thje newest and hippest ideas in hair, but you wont get a cookie-cutter haircut here, each style job is personalized to your liking! Theres always a variety of people at Carmen from TV personalities to Grandmas to teens ( an occasional Elvis sighting...) but everyone is here for the same reason! The best personal attention haircut in town.... You're crazy if you go elsewhere!!!

WONDERFULL STAFF,RELAXING ATMOSPHERE,PAMPERED LIKE A QUEEN,VERY CLASSY MODERN CHIC SALON,YOU WOULD NEVER HAVE THOUGHT A PLACE LIKE THIS EXSISTED IN TEXAS,I WAS FORTUNATE TO GET AN APPOINTMENT WITH THE FAMOUS CARMEN AND WOW!!!!! SHE DID HER THING AND WONT GO TO ANYONE ELSE,I AM FROM NORTHER CALI AND I MAKE THE TRIP TO SEE HER EVERY 2 MONTHS,I CANT SAY ANYTHING BUT THANK YOU EL PASO FOR HELPING ME FIND SUCH A HAIRSTYLIST!!! AND I AM A PICKY BIOTCH

Pros: THEY NOT ONLY DO GREAT HAIR THEY EDUCATE YOU ON HAIR

Cons: I LIVE OUTTA TOWN

I had been using the same stylist for six years and when we moved I struggled through a few less than wonderful salon experiences. My visit to Carmen was a welcome relief. It was just as important to her that I leave looking and feeling good as it was to me. She has been cutting and coloring my hair for about six months and I continue to get compliments! Everyone at the salon is very friendly and I know that while I'm there I am their top priority!

Pros: amazing stylist, great salon, good location

i was so pleased to be treated like a rock star the staff were the greatest catering to my needs like a vip and the results were awsomeeee i didnt wanna leave but when i did everyone i ran into couldnt believe the look i had they all had 100s of good things to say, and i guess thats why i was recommened to go there try it .. cheat on your hair dresser and youll love Carmen better!!!!!!

Pros: the whole experiance was a pro

Cons: that i couldnt spend more money

i have been getting my hair done at carmens fr the past 7 years and even though i know lve in denver i still go back to get my hair done with her. she is amazing and very talented.
