El Paso >Jaxon's Restaurant & Brewery
Not what I expected.... This restaurant was highly recommended to me by many of the El Paso locals, so needless to say I was excited that I was going to have a great meal and great beer. However, when I finally tried It I was completely disappointed. First, the service was very slow, and this was a Sunday late afternoon, non football season. The food was very bland, cold, and presented in a sloppy and careless manner. I tried their beer sampler, and was very disappointed. and grossed out. Most of their beer was warm, flat, and I did not even finish most of them. However should you try this restaurant and you plan to order a local brew, try the Chiwawa beer, it was the best one of the bunch.
Bland, Luke Warm Food.
The food at Jaxon's was luke warm. The potato soup was not even warm enough to melt the cheese which topped it. The mashed potatoes were also room temp. The BBQ ribs could have been cooked 1-2 hours longer as they were not tender. The BBQ chicken breast was dry. The house BBQ sauce was bland and watery.
When the waitress was describing the micro brews she would always compare them to different brands of domestic or Mexican beer. The brews we had were average. Not unlike domestic or Mexican beer.
We were going to fill out a comment card to complain but they didn't have any. We did tell the hostess about our experience and she gave us the manager's business card.
Go to BJ's Brewery and Resturant on Gateway West for much better beer and food. It is worth the drive.
This review comes from two beer drinkers who have been to over 1/2 dozen microbreweries all over the country. We have also lived in Germany and had great beer there and in other European countries. We know what we are talking about.
Good Food Great Place. Jaxon's is a good restaurant to take business associates or your family. They offer a viriety of southwestern dishes as well as some familiar favorites.
