Looking for local flavor? DON'T eat at Azulejo's..
The atmosphere, service and food are exactly what you'd expect from a restaurant in a hotel lobby. My husband and I had lunch there on a Saturday afternoon. It was a chilly afternoon, but one taste of my hot chocolate told me it was made from hot water and powdered mix. We shared the crabcake appetizer - it tasted fine - but clearly only because they followed the fryer directions on the box. Those things were so perfectly round and evenly thick, they were born on an assembly line. The spicy remoulade it was served with was actually pretty good. For entrees, I had the tapatillas (chicken tostadas) and he had the Monterrey Cobb salad. We would have found more flavor ordering at Taco Bell. The grilled chicken tasted like it came out of a plastic packet, the lettuce was ALL iceberg, and the "pico de gallo" consisted of chopped tomatoes. The serving size was excellent, and the service wasn't slow by any means.
If you prefer food that's mild to the extreme, Azulejo's will be right up your alley. If you're looking for something more authentic, don't waste your time or money.
